If you’re about to become a new parent then there are a lot of different topics on your mind. You have to learn a whole new set of skill before the baby gets here and that task can seem a little daunting. Well, this article is going to help you out just a little bit when it comes to your child’s carseat. We’ll talk about the different types of seats, proper uses, and tips that can keep your children safe.
The very first thing you need to learn about pertains to the types of seats there are. Of course, your baby is going to start out in a newborn seat. This seat is going to be rear facing which your child should stay in as long as possible because it offers the most protection for your baby. Some children will be able to stay in rear facing seats up to two years, but it’s really all based on your child’s age, height, and weight. You can check the label of the carseat to see what the limits are. These rear facing seats are able to cradle your baby’s neck in the perfect way to reduce damages during a collision. It’s also important to keep your children in the back seat for as long as possible too. You should keep them as far away from the airbag as possible.
After your child grows out of that rear facing seat they will move into a forward facing safety seat. This seat will remain in the back and you should be able to use the vehicle’s LATCH system to secure it into place. It’s very important that you read the labels of the carseat to learn which attachments are supposed to be used for your seat. We’ll talk more about this in the next article of the series. Until then, you can visit Nelson Nissan where you can find a great new or certified used car near Muskogee.
