Carseat Tips For New Parents Part 5

Child in CarseatWe have finally reached the last article in this series and we just have a few more tips to share with you. These tips are here to help you keep your child safer whenever they are inside the vehicle.

If you aren’t sure whether your child needs to switch to a carseat or a booster seat then you may want to check the height and weight limits. The child can stay in their biggest carseat until they outgrow those limits. It’s super important that they are put into a booster seat because just using the seatbelt could cause more harm than good. The seatbelt was designed to lay across the waist and chest but with a small child it will likely fall on the stomach and neck.

You should also remember to consider what toys you are bringing in the car. There are many children who have gotten injured by toys while in a crash. If you do decide to bring toys along make sure that they are soft. No matter how far the distance is, you and your children should always wear their seatbelts. If you buckle up then they will want to as well. This should be done as soon as you get into the vehicle and before you start driving away.

Another huge issue for children in vehicles is heatstroke. We want to make sure that your child never has to endure this. The easiest way to prevent this is to never leave your child in the vehicle regardless of how quick you think you’ll be. There are also many laws that could get you into big time trouble if you were to do this.

Carseat Tips For New Parents Part 4

Child's CarseatIn the last article we began talking about how important it was to check out the carseat to ensure that it is properly installed. We still have a few other things that you’ll want to look at before you take off for the first time.

Regardless of which type of carseat you are using for your child you’ll want to make sure that you are using either the seat belt or the lower attachments, but never both. The top tether should always be used to lock in the carseat regardless of which lower safety you are using. Try both the lower attachments and the seatbelt then determine which one keeps the carseat more snug and use that one.┬áLastly, if you ever feel like your carseat just doesn’t look or feel right then you should find a professional. It is never over the line to ask questions or seek advice. There are plenty of carseat check points with people who are certified that can take a look at it for you. Visit Nelson Nissan and ask them where you can find a local carseat check place.

After your child has outgrown the carseat they will then need to move into a booster seat. Trust me, they should never move straight to the seat and seatbelt and I’ll explain why later. If your child has finally outgrown the height and weight limits on your carseat they either may need a new carseat or a to move to a booster. However, if their shoulders are higher than the top harness then they need a booster seat. Also, if you notice that your child’s head is above the top of the carseat then this too means they need to move to a booster seat.

Safety Features And Crash Test For 2017 Frontier

Safety FeaturesThere are many reasons why people want to purchase a new truck, but perhaps safety ratings isn’t really one of them. I’m here to tell you that safety is always important for the new vehicles you purchase. Luckily for you, Nissan vehicles are always packed with incredible features to protect you and your passengers.

The new Nissan Frontier is a great new truck available at Nelson Nissan. This new pickup truck can give you many great safety features. Regardless of which trim level you purchase you’ll have all of the same safety features. It will have the Nissan Advanced air bag system which uses the dual stage front airbags, seatbelts, and occupant classification sensors to determine whether or not the airbag needs to be deployed. The new Frontier also has the front seat mounted side impact airbags and roof mounted curtain airbags with rollover sensors. A few of the other safety features will include: vehicle dynamic control, traction control system, active brake limited slip, three point safety belts, front seat active head restraints, seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters, Lower Anchors and Tethers for Child safety seats, zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones, hood buckling creases, energy absorbing steering column, pipe style steel side door guard beams, and tire pressure monitoring system. Several of these features are going to help prevent more injury from happening during a collision by absorbing impact during a collision and dispersing it out away from the inside of the vehicle. The 2017 Frontier was put through crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and ended up receiving the highest ratings for the Moderate Overlap Front Collision and Side Collision tests.

Carseat Tips For New Parents Part 2

Kids in CarseatsThere are a lot of important tips to learn about whenever it comes to having children, but safety in a vehicle may be one that gets thrown to the side. It’s so important that you take some time to learn the ends and outs of the carseat world in order to make sure that your children are always safe in the vehicle.

So, after your children move out of the year facing seat you’ll want to move them to a forward facing seat, but make sure that they are still in the backseat of the car. Children are likely out of the rear facing seat at age 2. These seats are going to have attachments or anchors and tethers, but they have weight requirements that you need to stick to. After they reach these limits you’ll need to use the seat belt. Don’t worry, you won’t have to hold on to the carseat manual forever because it stays posted on the side of the carseat. These weight limits are important to pay attention to so that your children don’t outgrow the carseat making it unsafe for them.

The best thing you can do is to remember to check your carseat’s label to make sure that your child hasn’t outgrown those age, height, and weight limits. If your child has outgrown it then it’s time to move on to a new seat. You will also need to check the carseat’s expiration date. These can be unsafe if they are used passed the proper date. It’s important that you throw these carseats away and don’t pass them on to others. Old carseats shouldn’t continue to be reused by anyone.
